What Is Drip Coffee Bag Packaging?

A drip coffee bag is designed to hold ground coffee while allowing hot water to pass through the coffee during brewing.

A typical package contains:

1. Ground coffee

2. Inner filter bag

3. Hanging support structure

4. Outer protective bag

The packaging process therefore needs to control both coffee dosing and package sealing.

1. Coffee Dosing

The machine must accurately dose the required amount of ground coffee.

LPMIE's drip coffee packaging configuration can be used for approximately 5–10 g of ground coffee per inner bag, depending on product requirements.

Coffee characteristics can affect dosing.

Important variables include:

· Particle size

· Bulk density

· Moisture

· Roast characteristics

· Flowability

A formulation with inconsistent bulk density may require additional process adjustment even when the target weight remains unchanged.

2. Inner Bag and Outer Bag

The inner filter bag holds the ground coffee and allows water to pass through.

The outer bag provides additional protection against:

· Moisture

· Oxygen exposure

· Contamination

· Aroma loss

Typical dimensions depend on the finished product design.

For LPMIE's drip coffee configuration, the inner bag is approximately 70–74 × 90 mm, while the outer bag is approximately 120 × 100 mm.

Final dimensions should be confirmed according to the customer's package design.

3. Ultrasonic Sealing

Ultrasonic sealing can be used for packaging applications requiring controlled sealing without relying only on conventional thermal sealing.

A stable sealing process helps maintain:

· Package integrity

· Appearance

· Product protection

· Production consistency

Sealing parameters should be matched to the filter material and outer packaging film.

4. Production Speed and Machine Selection

The LPMIE drip coffee bag configuration has a production range of approximately 20–45 bags/min, depending on the product and operating conditions.

When selecting equipment, manufacturers should consider:

Factor

Why it matters

Coffee dosage

Determines filling system requirements

Inner bag size

Determines forming configuration

Outer bag size

Determines outer packaging system

Sealing method

Affects material compatibility

Production volume

Determines required machine speed

Finished package

Determines downstream packaging requirements

5. Typical Applications

Drip coffee packaging is suitable for:

· Specialty coffee

· Single-origin coffee

· Blended coffee

· Hotel coffee products

· Retail coffee

· Promotional coffee

· Travel coffee products

The format is particularly useful for products positioned as convenient single-serve brewing solutions.

FAQ

What type of coffee is suitable?

Ground coffee with controlled particle size and suitable flowability is generally preferred.

How much coffee can be packed?

The LPMIE configuration can handle approximately 5–10 g per bag, depending on the product.

Why does the package need an outer bag?

The outer bag provides additional protection for the inner filter bag and coffee product.
